Greetings, June and goodbye May!
The first episode of Skip Beat (or Extravagant Challenge) have finally aired in Malaysia on the 26th of May on 8TV and the K-poppers in my school went wild with the topic. I asked most of them the infamous question of that day: "Hey, did you watch Skip Beat yesterday?" Most answers were yes and the rest were devastating no's. I was glad that I watched since I had a critical mental sickness that makes me often forget important things and it is surreal that I managed to remember to watch the drama.
It's in Mandarin and what's cool about the drama is Donghae and Siwon of Super Junior (yes, the Greek Gods-sque Koreans who are 2/15 of Super Junior) and what's not hot about the drama is both of Donghae and Siwon's parts were dubbed. It's actually a clean dubbed since their real voices and the dubbing voice actually sound alike, but if you're a huge fan of these boys, you can tell the differences. (Minor spoliers alert!)
It took at least more than five minutes to wait for Donghae's appearance and when he did appeared (as a sexy billboard), my state of fangirling went wild. It became wilder when Donghae smiled. He was a hot in bronze hair, eye-lined eyes, smiling down at the girl whom he knew for all his life... Oh well. If only I was the one whom he smiled at.
Siwon appeared on Donghae's flat screen TV. Yes, that's when he first appeared. Apparently, Sho Fuwa (which is Donghae) hated Ren Tsuruga (I hope I got Siwon's character's name correctly). Fuwa's a newcomer in the entertainment industry who has packed schedules and is stuck-up. Tsuruga's mouth is like Kyuhyun if you want to compare Siwon's character with Siwon's real-life buddy and Tsuruga's dubbed as 'the Hottest or the Handsomest Celeb in Taiwan', and Fuwa wants to beat him for the title. The girl whom Fuwa have know for most of his life threw a strawberry jelly to the flat screen TV which hits Tsuruga in the 'face'. (Funny part: He replied, "Thank you," and smiled Siwon's infamous charming smile.Gah!) But Siwon didn't appear much yet, but he will, in the rest of the episodes.
For the first time I actually liked the heroine. I never liked any, even if I watch another Mandarin, Korean or Japanese drama. Probably because I felt sorry to the character. She is naive and working three part-time works at three different places just to pay the rent for their Fuwa and her lavish home. She travels form one place to another with a bike. Gosh, she must be lucky to sit on one couch with Donghae.
The worst part is yet to come. (Major spoilers alert!)
The girl came to where Fuwa was at for an appearance on a show. Fans queued to meet Fuwa, chanting his name and all (ah, you know the typical fangirl things...) and she actually shoved herself through the crowd but was kicked out by security. She tried once more and succeed. Yay for Gong Xi's camp! She was holding the door knob when she heard that someone was talking about "Gong Xi Fa Cai" (or Happy New Year in Chinese, which is she) and she listened intently.
When she realized that Fuwa was talking about her when he was OMG-sex-godding-on-another-girl's-lap, this 'treasure chest' which holds her devil side opens and she became extremely mad and was crying-plus-laughing like the ones you've seen asylums.
Gong Xi: *laughing madly*
Bad girl: Is she mad?
Sho Fuwa: Looks like it...
She was still laughing and laughing and laughing until I felt my hairs stood. Man, it was creepy. She accused Fuwa for using her after they ran away from Fuwa's Dad's hotel (they kind of lived together since they were kids, since Gong Xi's parents were busy so they sent her to live with Fuwa's family, but they're not related in anyway, but they basically grew up with each other) and he used her to make things easier for him, i.e: cooking, working to pay their apartment's rent, laundry and etc...
Gong Xi: I will come to avenge you!
Sho Fuwa: Bring it. If you are going to avenge me, you should try to join the industry, then you have the slightest chance to avenge.
Grrr.... For once, I was sick with Fuwa. I wanted to straggle Sho Fuwa, but I'm aware that in the end, I'd be straggling Lee Donghae who was innocently playing his role.
Gong Xi then was kicked out again. Phew, she didn't get the chance to hit Fuwa. When she got home, he ripped all of those posters and CD cases apart and cried like hell. Somehow, poor Gong Xi for being treated like a dog. For the second time, I was going to rip Fuwa's head, but then again, I'll be ripping Donghae's head. Haih...
She decided to try out the entertainment industry so first, she needed a make over. She never had a chance to doll herself because she was working hard for the rent, she had to forget the fact that she needed a make over. Again, my sympathy for Gong Xi.
Hairstylist: You've been keeping your hair for a long while... Don't you think it's a waste to cut it short after you've struggling keeping it long?
*moments of Gong Xi's thoughts...*
Gong Xi: Cut it star style! (She meant it any celeb's style, not star's style...)
She ended up with a funny spiky short hair and it was dyed red. Man, it was funny. I can't believe it she afford to walk on streets wearing that hair. No one's looking at her at all? Ha, I doubt it. Probably she was less-affectionate towards her looks and the eyes on her.
Gong Xi actually walked on the streets of I-don't-know-where-in-the-world-they-were, looking bad-ass like a whore (no offence!). It's a 'superstition' that Gong Xi's friend's mum told. If you walk in that street, you'll be famous. Apparently, it happened to a veteran actress, not the nowadays ones. But, she received a card from an anonymous saying "If you wanna be famous, do come to our place." Gong Xi was ecstatic.
I still can't believe that Donghae was role-playing Sho Fuwa. Fuwa's evil to my eyes. Fuwa's evil to my friend's eyes. Except for Dila's.
Dila: To me, Sho Fuwa's the most gag-iest character.
Anyway, I can't wait for the second episode!
P/S: The lines weren't as accurate. I type it down as how I understood it.
P/S/S: It's pointless, right? Who asked you to read it? LOLJK.
